Description
The Prescott Marine Mammal Rescue Assistance Grant Program is administered by NOAA to assist regional stranding networks in organizing and responding marine mammal stranding events, and fund research designed to answer questions about marine mammal health. UAM received Prescott Program funds to accession, process and catalog marine mammal specimens; increase UAM's marine mammal salvage operations; integrate data, tissue samples, specimens and images into an online relational database (Arctos); identify and cross-reference specimens with AMMTAP and GenBank numbers; identify publications that cite UAM marine mammal specimens and link references to Arctos; and, archive new marine mammal tissues and specimens received from government agencies and subsistence hunters.
